Community Projects and Learning to use Tools

Each program beings with a power tool induction, where participants learn the basics of using tools safely and confidently.
As a team, we complete a community project for a local organisation in need. In the past, we’ve built cubby houses for Make-A-Wish Tasmania, dog kennels for The Dogs’ Home, and picnic tables for childcares. These projects are a great way for participants to build practical and transferable skills like teamwork, reading plans, taking measurements, and staying organised while building connections in the community.
If you’re from an organisation and would like to apply for a project, visit our “Get Involved” page to learn more.

Boost Job Readiness

Discover careers in hands-on industries through activities, guest speakers who share their career stories, and visit real workplaces. Excursions include construction sites, workshops, factories and training centres.
Coaches work with participants to build their resumes, practice interview skills and gain the knowledge and confidence needed to start work.

Personalised Coaching

Throughout the program, each participant works with a coach to set personal goals and work towards them. Goals are different for everyone and focus on getting ready for work and life – for example, getting a driver’s licence, working on practical skills or improving mental health and wellbeing.

Exploring Opportunities

After completing Part 1, participants move into the next stage of the program – exploring real opportunities that suit their goals and interests.

Some participants take part in work placements in hands-on industries such as construction, civil construction, or manufacturing. These placements help build confidence, gain real experience, and make valuable industry connections.

Others join specialised programs, such as our Grounds Maintenance Program, where they learn specific skills and connect with employment opportunities.

Some participants choose to continue with further training to keep building their skills and experience.

Throughout this stage, coaches provide ongoing personalised support to help participants stay on track and achieve their goals.
